here comes the rain again

blessed rain ! Tonight, I had a tropical vision of my garden, as a sudden heavy downpour occured while the sky was perfectly blue on my side and the sun was shining brightly :

Everything was glistening, from the stone terrace to the leaves and the metal of the lanterns. It didn’t last long at all, but I’m sure this picture will trigger some memories in some of you, dear readers. The tropical shower meet the Northern hemisphere ultimate experience !

Tonight, on returning from a hard week’s work, Mike Lucky Spade proudly detached the first courgette produced in the Botanic Bay veg plot :

For the cunning eye of the regular follower of  the Botanic Bay blog, you may have noticed something different with the trellis in the background…

The Cleopatra’s needles have gone, dried as sunflower seeds, I cut them down today. Hervé’s tip with bulbs is that one should always let the leaves dry out on their own, and absolutely not cut them together with the stem, as the bulb uses them to stock on energy to produce next year’s flowering. So I have.

    What is Albert the Owl made out of? He looks great and something all gardens should have!! 🙂

    Great tip about letting the leaves dry out on their own, and not cutting them together with the stem. Didn’t know that!

      thanks Will ; Albert the Owl is made of metal, found it at an Emmaus charity sale… sure one of my best buy for the garden ! It keeps a watchful eye over the plot…
