D day

Well they’re at work ! The team of two tree surgeons arrived spot at 8 this morning, as promised.

The first hour was spent going round the sick conifer hedge, spotting where the old fence was hiding, debate where to start from, precautions to take as regard water pipes and the pavement.

Then the chainsaw started roaring and this is how it looked at 9 a.m., then at 10 a.m. :

10 a.m.

    Oh My God !

This looks brutal. Our hedge is disappearing…… we are going to be exposed !!

Hey, but on the bright side, what advantage do conifer hedges bring apart from a tight compact linear form and the privacy angle.
We are going to tidy this up, replacing the sick and ugly looking hedge by a mixed border of colourful, flowering hedge plants that will do so much more for the neighbourhood and the wildlife…..

It is just a shock to see the construction site in full swing !

Onwards and upwards. Keep me informed of progress.
